Privacy notice
Last updated 18 October 2026
This notice explains what personal information The Deli collects through this website, why, how long we keep it and what your rights are. We keep it short and we only collect what we need.
Who we are
The Deli at 144 Great Portland Street, London W1W 6QT is run by ‘The Delis’ Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 12144920, registered office c/o Williams Stanley and Co, 144 Great Portland Street, London W1W 6QT. What we collect and why
| When | What | Why, and our lawful basis | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|---|
| You sign up for news | Your email address. | To send you news and updates from the deli. Basis: your consent. | Until you unsubscribe. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, or reply to any email or write to us and we will remove you. |
| You send a catering or venue enquiry | Your name, email, phone number if given, what you are interested in, event date, budget, how you heard of us and your message. | To reply and to quote for and arrange your event. Basis: taking steps at your request before a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries. If you tick the news box, we also add your email to our list on the basis of your consent. | Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: 12 months. Bookings: six years after the event, because we must keep business and tax records for that long. |
| You apply to join the team | Your name, email, phone number if given, the role you are interested in, your CV and whatever you choose to tell us. | To consider you for a role. Basis: taking steps at your request before a contract of employment. | Six months, then deleted, or sooner if you ask. If we hire you, it becomes part of your staff record. |
| You email us directly | Your email address and what you write. | To reply to you. Basis: our legitimate interest in answering messages. | Up to 12 months, unless it becomes part of a booking or job application. |
| You visit the site | Technical information your browser sends, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. | To run the site securely and count visits. Basis: our legitimate interest in a working, secure website. | Held briefly by our hosting provider in its logs. Visit counts are anonymous. |
We do not sell your information and we do not use it for automated decisions about you.
Allergy and dietary needs can count as health information, which the law protects more strongly. We never ask you to put them in a form. If you choose to tell us about one for an event, we use it with your consent only to prepare your food safely, share it only with the team making it, and delete it with the rest of the enquiry or booking.
Cookies and similar technology
This site does not set cookies of its own and does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Visit counts. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you.
- Maps. The map in the footer only loads when you press “Show map”. Google Maps may then set its own cookies, under Google’s privacy policy.
- Bagel Stack. The game saves your best score in your own browser. It never leaves your device and you can clear it by clearing your browser data.
- Instagram. Links to our Instagram take you to Instagram, where Meta’s privacy policy applies.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of providers to run the site and our email. They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes:
- Vercel Inc. hosts the website and its forms.
- Resend delivers the emails our forms send to us, and holds our newsletter mailing list and sends the newsletter.
- Microsoft, through Microsoft 365, which holds our hello@ inbox and the emails, enquiries and CVs that arrive there.
- Our accountants and professional advisers, where booking records are needed for our accounts and tax.
We will share information with authorities only if the law requires it.
International transfers
Some of our providers are based in, or store data in, the United States. Where information leaves the UK, it is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the UK’s approved contract terms.
Keeping it safe
The site runs over an encrypted connection, form submissions go straight to our inbox, and only the people who need your information to do their job can see it.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct it, or to delete it;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from news;
- ask us to pass information you gave us to another organisation, where that applies.
Email hello@thedelis.co.uk and we will reply within one month. It is free.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
